In an appraisal of the model on cameras. co. uk, the eight-megapixel model was also praised for its ease of use, which gives it the convenience of a point-and-shoot camera suited to consumers on the look out for a “straightforward, snapshot camera”.
Another strength of the camera, the review says, is its 2.8-inch LCD screen, which displays “key menu settings”, making them easy to check or adjust.
The camera also features a 3x optical zoom lens, face detection technology and auto-tracking autofocus, which can optimised sharpness, shadow and light for each shot.

A new review of the Canon Ixus 90IS has praised it as a “solid camera” following in the traditions of the Ixus range by offering style without sacrificing its build quality.
In its appraisal of the model, VNUnet. com says the all-metal camera comes with image stabilisation - as denoted by the IS suffix – which reduces the effect of camera shake by physically adjusting its lens.
It also features motion detection technology and face recognition, which can lock on to a subject and track their movement within the frame.
The site adds that the Canon Ixus 90IS comes with ten-megapixel resolution, a 3x optical zoom lens and automatic red-eye reduction.
Image-wise, the review praises the camera for its “colour rich” pictures for “showing plenty of detail” while remaining natural in appearance. There are 19 dedicated shooting modes for different scenes and shots taken with the Canon Ixus 90IS can be reviewed with the playback option on a three-inch LCD monitor, it adds.
The Canon Ixus 90IS is available in the UK from around £196.99.

The Casio Exilim Pro Ex-F1 offers an “insane” shooting speed of 60 frames per second, making it ideal for fast, full-quality shots, it has been reported.
Technology blog Gizmodo. com says that in his review, David Pogue praised not only the camera’s speed, but also it’s “pre-recorded mode”, which keeps shooting even when the shutter button is only halfway depressed.
As a result, the camera can capture that crucial split-second shot even if its operator fails to hit the button at precisely the right moment, the site says.
However, the “almost experimental” model does require bright light to avoid “dim or blurry shots”.
Nevertheless, Pogue states that complaining about these problems is akin to “complaining that your seven-year-old violin virtuoso is lousy at sports” and concludes that the Casio Exilim Pro Ex-F1 is ideal for those looking to shoot at speed.
Casio launched the Casio Exilim Pro Ex-F1 at the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show in January.

The Casio Exilim EX-S10 is the “thinnest ten-megapixel compact on the market”, according to a recent review.
TrustedReviews.com reported that the gadget contains “more features than most of the competition fit into their entire range”, including Canon’s Best Shot scene mode series - which include selections such as Auction, Food, Sport and Autumn Leaves.
In addition, users can utilise the camera’s new White Board mode to take shots of presentations and seminars, or to get clearer photos of an image on a white sign.
Up to ten minutes of video can be captured with the camera’s standard recording option, while users can specify if they would like to record in YouTube or iTunes formats, select from silent and sound modes and capture moving in black and white or colour.
Earlier this month, a review from CNet reported that although the camera does not feature image stabilisation technology, its “giant” 2.7-inch screen indicated there was more to the Casio Exilim EX-S10 than first met the eye.
