Casio Exilim S880 ‘good for YouTube fans’

The Casio Exilim S880 has been applauded for its movie-recording ability, as it can optimise clips for YouTube, a recent review has claimed.

According to PCMag.com, the camera “does the job” if users are seeking a small camera for video recording.

However, the publication claimed that the camera’s still image features are not as high-quality as shots taken with the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T70 and the Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS.

Despite this, the camera’s “cool movie-recording features” and “credit-card size” make it a product to consider, as does its 2.8-inch widescreen LCD, which is integrated with the camera’s control functions, the review continued.

According to Casio, the Exilim S880 is available in black, silver and red and comes with a YouTube-enabled software application.

The 8.1-megapixel camera has a one-second start-up time and a high-speed image playback function which can scroll through up to 100 images within ten seconds.

It also comes with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.

Casio Exilim EX-S10 ‘a slim compact’

The Casio Exilim EX-S10 has been praised for its “giant screen” and its “tweakable options” in a recent review.

According to Rich Trenholm of Cnet, the camera is “hands down one of the slimmest compacts we’ve ever seen” and does not compromise on features or specs.

He added that at 15mm deep, the camera has “size-zero skinniness” coupled with a large 2.7-inch screen in addition to the “usual compact specs”.

The Casio S10 comes complete with a 10-megapixel sensor, 3x zoom and face detection technology, although Mr Trenholm notes that image stabilisation is absent from the camera’s feature list.

However, he added that the standard features come complete with “a number of extra options”, including a function in which the photographer can make recordings of their friends’ faces so the camera can detect them in images.

Mr Trenholm stated in a separate review for Crave that the camera is available in a choice of red, blue, black and silver all-metal frames.

New Casio Exilim Z80 ‘great-looking and compact’

The Casio Exilim EX-Z80 has been given an overall performance rating of 80 per cent in a recent review, it has emerged.

According to infoSync, the Casio Z80’s strongest feature is its slim style, while minimal buttons with simple functionality guarantee ease of use for users.

Despite the fact the camera has minimal manual controls, the camera’s auto mode was found to select appropriate settings for all test shots.

Featuring 26 scene modes - including an eBay mode designed specifically for taking product shots - the camera also has an “assortment” of other useful functions, including a rapid-fire continuous mode which can take photos at speeds of up to two frames per second.

The camera also has YouTube video recording functionality and “can take excellent pictures” as well, according to the review.

According to the manufacturer, the Casio Exilim Z80 comes in a range of colours, including shocking pink, silver, green and black.

New Casio camera ‘to ship in March’

The Casio Exilim Pro EX-F1 digital camera is expected to ship in Japan on March 28th, according to UK website Product-reviews.net.

The six-megapixel camera is set to feature an ultra-high speed burst rate of 60 frames per second for still images and will be able to record movies in full high-denfitintion.

In addition, the camera can also record video at high speeds of 1,200 frames per second, which can then be used in ultra-slow motion replay, according to the review.

No release date has been set for Europe or the United States yet, the website claimed.

In the meantime, consumers may be satisfied with the Casio Exilim Pro Ex-505, which is described by the manufacturer as “a marriage of the latest technology in both still and moving digital image capture”.

The five-megapixel camera can capture prints that can be enlarged up to A3 size and is powered by rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, Casio claimed.

Casio camera “a good little snapper”

The new Casio Exlim EX-S880 is consumer-friendly and easy to understand, a recent review has claimed.

A successor to the firm’s EX-S770 model, the camera has similar features to its predecessor and comes in a variety of colours - silver, red wine and charcoal.

It features a 3x optical zoom lens and a 2.8-inch screen, as well as an eight megapixel sensor, which Pocket-lint.co.uk says cuts down any potential for noise in still photographs.

In terms of photo functionality, the camera is applauded for its quick start-up time, as well as positive picture quality, good colour balance and relatively little noise.

The website also calls the camera “shirt-pocket light” and claims it is a “great accessory for any party”.

Casio has also included a specific YouTube functionality in the camera’s movie mode, which enables users to shoot and save video clips at the “optimum size” for the movie sharing website.

The YouTube Capture mode is also available on the company’s other new Exlim digital camera, the EX-Z77, according to Casio.

Fast shooting from Casio

Casio has confirmed that it is to develop its Exilim EX-F1, which was first announced as a concept last autumn.

The company has announced that it is to produce the model, which features, among other things, the ability to shoot at up to 60 frames per second. This would make it the world’s fastest camera for short bursts of shots, Casio claims.

Users will be able to adjust the shooting rate between one and 60 frames per second, although a maximum of 60 images can be taken at once.

Movie clips can be filmed at a rate of 30 frames per second at a standard rate, although videos can also be shot in high definition or at high speed.

The Casio Exilim EX-F1 comes equipped with a six megapixel sensor and a 12x zoom.

The camera also has a buffer system so that if users miss a moment, they can still take a photo of it by rewinding into the memory, which can record up to 60 images per second.

A number of other new models were also announced by the manufacturer at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, including the new Exilim EX-S10, which Casio claims is the world’s slimmest compact camera.

Casio announces new cameras

A new compact camera has been unveiled by Casio, with the manufacturer claiming that the model is the world’s slimmest ten-megapixel camera on the market.

The Casio Exilim EX-S10, which has a width of just 15 mm has a number of features which make it ideal for everyday use.

A 3x optical zoom lens as well as a number of different scene settings, including a YouTube capture mode, mean that the camera can take short videos at a high quality resolution.

Among the other features on the model are a 2.7 inch LCD screen, with high contrast settings, so that images appear sharp and clear to the eye when displayed onscreen.

Besides this there is an auto shutter function which allows the camera to automatically detect when the hand ceases to shake and take a photo at that instant. It is also possible to set the camera so that images can be taken at the moment when subjects smile.

The company also announced a number of other new cameras, including the Exilim EX-Z80, where the company tried to make the model look like a fashion accessory.

Casio announces 60 fps prototype

Casio has announced that it is developing a new prototype digital camera with “previously unseen” high speed performance and image capture functions.

The company says that the new camera will be capable of taking still images at an “astonishingly high shooting speed” - so that photographers can catch fast-moving subjects at the “crucial moment”.

It will also be able to take movies that “capture movement so fast that it cannot even be seen by the human eye”, Casio claims.

The prototype is on display at the IFA 2007 consumer electronics show, which is currently taking place in Berlin. It has six megapixels and 12x optical zoom - and comes replete with a CMOS-shift image stabilisation function.

It can capture film at VGA resolution at 300 frames per second. This will enable it to replay movies in ultra-slow motion - a feature so far only available on a narrow selection of professional movie equipment, says Casio.

The company expects the product to become available in the next two years.

Casio releases Exilim EX-V8

Casio has announced the release of a new 8.1-megapixel camera, the Exilim EX-V8.

The camera delivers the megapixels in a camera that is slim and dynamic enough to fit into the palm of your hand - and that also contains a 7x optical inner zoom lens for quiet operation.

It comes with the Exilim Engine 2.0 image processing model, meaning that it can offer four blur reduction technologies which are responsible for setting the most appropriate ISO sensitivity and shutter speed.

The camera is available in two body colours - silver and black. The Exilim Engine also allows film clips to be recorded at the “next generation” high compression H.264 standard. It comes with Casio’s YouTube Capture Mode, which allows users to capture films and save them at their optimum size, quality and setting on video sharing site YouTube.com.

The camera is also equipped with Anti Shake DSP, which reduces “blur due to shaky hands and subject movement, using high shutter speeds and high sensitivity settings”, according to Casio.
