Ricoh Caplio R8 ‘has wide zoom in small package’

The Ricoh Caplio R8 offers a wide angle 7.1x optical zoom lens in an “ultra compact” package, a review of the model has said.

In its appraisal of the camera, Digicam Review also said the ten-megapixel model boasts a “new, more professional” design compared to its predecessor in the Ricoh range, the Ricoh R7.

In addition to its wide angle lens, the Ricoh Caplio R8 also features an optical image stabiliser, a face recognition mode and adjustable ISO settings.

A number of shooting modes are included, such as portrait, face, sports, landscape, high sensitivity and nightscape, as well as visual effects such as black and white or sepia.

The Ricoh Caplio R8’s image quality is also praised for its good colour saturation, contrast and detail - and for the level of control it gives the user over image settings.

Furthermore, it concludes, the camera’s “wide range” of features, quick menus and good overall picture quality makes it suitable for all camera enthusiasts.

The Ricoh Caplio R8 is available in the UK from around £189.99.

Ricoh G600 ‘perfect for outdoor activity shots’

The new Ricoh G600 is a water and dust-resistant digital camera that is smaller and lighter than its predecessors yet still robust enough to be “perfect” for shooting outdoor activities such as climbing, fishing and marine sports, the manufacturer has said.

The camera has been tested to Ricoh’s shock resistance standard - a 1.5 metre fall. This test also conforms to US Department of Defence specifications, the company added.

It also comes with improved water and dust sealing to protect its features from being damaged by the elements.

Among those features are a 5x optical zoom lens, equivalent to a 28mm to 140mm lens on a 35mm camera, a one centimetre macro mode and a flash with a range of ten metres.

Furthermore, the ten effective megapixel camera comes with a 2.7-inch high definition display, automatic light balance and skew correction, which makes images shot from an angle appear as though they were shot from the front.

Other cameras in the Ricoh range include the Ricoh Capilo R7 and the Ricoh Capilo R8.

Ricoh digital camera offers “something different”

The Ricoh Caplio GX100 is “totally unlike anything else on the market”, according to a recent review.

TrustedReviews. com reports that the new model - which comes with a 10.1-megapixel sensor and is the replacement for Rico’s GX8 camera - has the “quality, performance and versatility of a high-end semi-pro camera with the convenience and portability of a pocket compact”.

A unique feature is the option to attach an add-on electronic viewfinder with a tilting eyepiece to the camera’s external flash hot-shoe, the reviewer claimed, while other features included manual exposure options, a 2.5-inch display screen and CCD-shift image stabilisation technology.

The camera shares similar features to the Canon PowerShot G9, including a larger sensor, manual exposure and RAW capture, although the reviewer claims that the Ricoh Caplio GX100 has an advantage in terms of its smaller size and weight.

It measures 112mm x 58mm x 25mm and weighs around 250 grams when the lithium-ion rechargeable battery is inserted, although according to the manufacturer, the camera is also compatible with AAA batteries.
