A review of the Canon Ixus 860IS has praised the camera for its “stylish design, exceptional build quality, class-leading performance and outstanding picture quality”.
Trusted Reviews said the 8.1-megapixel model also comes with a 3.8x zoom lens, which provides a wider range and “greater versatility” than many other compacts with similar specifications.
According to the site, the lens is useful for getting groups of people into frame or capturing panoramic landscapes.
The “high quality” lens is further enhanced by Canon’s image-stabilisation, which the review rates as “very effective”, even with hand-held shots taken with low shutter speeds.
Another feature of the Canon Ixus 860IS is its “excellent” three-inch LCD monitor, which has a 230,000-pixel screen resolution. The display’s wide-angle view makes it “ideal” for taking overhead shots or sharing pictures in playback mode.
In terms of image quality, the Canon Ixus 860IS “does not disappoint”, with good overall sharpness and “pretty much perfect” colour reproduction and exposure.
The Canon Ixus 860IS is available from around £190.99.
