A new review of the Canon Ixus 90IS has praised it as a “solid camera” following in the traditions of the Ixus range by offering style without sacrificing its build quality.

In its appraisal of the model, VNUnet. com says the all-metal camera comes with image stabilisation – as denoted by the IS suffix – which reduces the effect of camera shake by physically adjusting its lens.

It also features motion detection technology and face recognition, which can lock on to a subject and track their movement within the frame.

The site adds that the Canon Ixus 90IS comes with ten-megapixel resolution, a 3x optical zoom lens and automatic red-eye reduction.

Image-wise, the review praises the camera for its “colour rich” pictures for “showing plenty of detail” while remaining natural in appearance. There are 19 dedicated shooting modes for different scenes and shots taken with the Canon Ixus 90IS can be reviewed with the playback option on a three-inch LCD monitor, it adds.

The Canon Ixus 90IS is available in the UK from around £196.99.
