Garmin Nuvi 250W ’simple, powerful’

Garmin’s Nuvi 250W widescreen satellite navigation device has been given a five star rating in a review published on vnunet.com.
The touch-screen system follows on from Garmin’s other popular satellite navigation devices but offers a bigger screen, which measures 4.3 inches and is especially designed to be easy to read even when sunlight is hitting it directly.
Tom Royal, of technology site Computeractive said the display “really stands out”, adding: “[It] gives plenty of room for a clear map of the surrounding area, as well as journey information.”
Coming equipped with maps covering Europe, the Nuvi 250W allows users to add their own points of interest to the system’s memory and select routes they wish to avoid taking on their journey.
After a long journey with the device, Mr Royal said: “The unit recalculated new routes quickly when we deliberately drove off-course to avoid traffic, and navigated us through an unfamiliar city centre without problems.”
He concluded that the device is “simple, but powerful” and highlighted the speed camera alert facility, which updates users on where police cameras are located for a yearly update fee of £30.
