A new compact digital camera from Nikon opts for minimalist styling by making the most of touchscreen technology.

The Nikon Coolpix S60 was announced by the manufacturer this week and features an integrated 3.5-inch touchscreen that allows users to control all of the cameras features.

Commenting on the launch, Nikon’s general manager for marketing Bill Giordano said that the Nikon Coolpix S60 was a direct response to the requests of its customers.

“When consumers asked for a bigger LCD screen, we listened and created a camera that not only takes great pictures, but is extremely fun to use as well,” he said.

In addition to its screen, the ten-megapixel autofocus camera features a Portrait One-Touch Zoom function, HD Pictmotion, HDMI connectivity and a 5x Zoom-Nikkor lens.

Optical VR Image Stabilization technology is also include for shot stability and the Nikon Coolpix S60 offers ISO capabilities of up to 3200.

Other models in the ten-megapixel manufacturer’s range include the Nikon Coolpix S600 - which has a 2.7-inch LCD screen.
