The image quality is “good to excellent” on the Panasonic Lumix DMC, one expert reviewer said.

According to Howard Creech, writing for the Digitalcamerareview website, great shots can be obtained when it is used outside and in good light, with the snapper needing to do little to obtain them.

“Images are very sharp with slightly hard contrast,” wrote Mr Creech. However, he also noted a slight tendency towards over-saturation and a very small amount of chromic aberration.

But overall, he was impressed with the product: “The snappy pocket-sized Panasonic FX30 may be one of the best choices for consumers searching for a capable and easy to use ultra-compact p&s [point and shoot] digicam.”

He also referred to the camera as “snazzy” and “robust”.

The comments follow those of a fellow reviewer on ePHOTOzine, who said that the 28mm lens should be a standard of all cameras in this class and expressed his surprise that more do not have the feature.
