I was looking to buy a 'tough' digital camera to take on holiday that was both waterproof and dustproof, and this fitted the spec. It came down to a decision between the FT1 and the quirky Canon Powershot D10 – I'm so pleased with my choice! I bought mine from panasonic lumix digital cameras .co.uk but i notice that ukdigitalcameras have it cheaper.

Hi Hugh – it's great that you like the camera. The HD movie mode really is great. Have you taken any good underwater pictures yet?

I have recently bought this camera and would thoroughly recommend it. The image quality is extremely good, and the movie mode is far superior to that on any other digital camera I have owned (recording in 720p HD quality with good sound quality and optical zoom usable when filming).
